Looking back on its development process: in October 2016, the NDRC, MIIT and the Cyberspace Administration jointly approved Henan to construct the only National Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone in the central region; in February 2017, Henan Province established Zhengzhou Wisdom Island as the core of the National Big Data (Henan) Comprehensive Pilot Zone; in August 2019, Zhengzhou proposed the urban function layout of strong economic competitiveness in the east, convenient traffic in the south, beautiful scenery in the west, peaceful academic area in the north, enhanced urban function in the central part, and good connectivity of the whole urban area. Wisdom Island acts as a strong support platform for the Zhengdong New District to be economically competitive.

回眸发展历程，2016年10月，国家三部委批复同意河南建设中部地区唯一的国家大数据综合试验区，2017年2月，河南省确立郑州智慧岛为国家大数据（河南）综合试验区的核心区。2019年8月，郑州明确提出了“东强、南动、西美、北静、中优、外联”的城市功能布局，智慧岛是郑东新区“东强”的有力支撑。

In just over three years, in line with the guidance of "mutual promotion of city and industry to achieve city-industry integration" and focusing on the core industries of big data, Wisdom Island has actively participated in the building of the industry-finance ecosystem consisting of "wisdom island, fund island, innovation island and talent island" which aims to serve as the service hub and paradise for innovation and start-ups with supportive policies.

Nine state-level scientific research institutes, including the Big Data Academy of the Institute of Computing Technology, the Zhengzhou Digital Innovation Center of the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applied Technology, as well as 12 academician workstations and 6 provincial-level R&D platforms have settled in succession.
